Levitating furniture design with a Scandinavian feel. Handmade in Finland.
The Story
It was just a coincidence that I got involved in designing furniture.
I have many relatives who are famous Designers. My father's creativity was through the roof. Ilkka Salo, my uncle, has drawn a number of exceptional buildings during the years. Kai Salo, my other uncle, designed the Oculus boat in the early seventies. The boat was far ahead of its time and even today there isn't anything like it.
I am just an ordinary girl who has been wondering why everyone has such similar furniture. Some people live in the most futuristic mansions, where every step you take is just wow, but the furniture they have does not live up to it.
So I decided to design something different - The lounge chair Halo
My primary concept is to design furniture that levitates in one way or another. Does there have to be legs on a chair? On a table, or a bed? I think not.

What's next for Salo Deco?
We are currently working on a dining room table, a coffee table, as well as a bed in a similar style as our chair. We are also experimenting with new ways to create the same sense of levitation either with magnets or air flow.
